Wild West frontier town it might no longer be, but in Dodge City, the former home of the Earps and Mastersons, there are plenty of associated sights to see so long as you check your gun at the door.
Medium-sized river with fishing for trout in a high mountain setting. River immediately above the Forest boundary has been enhanced with numerous plunge pool structures. Upstream of the end of the road, hike to some excellent scour pools and natural boulder plunge pools. Good pocket-water fishing can be found along many low-gradient boulder & cobble riffles. Lake fishing is also available at Lilly Lake, approximately a 4 mile walk from the end of the road.

Several Forest Service Campgrounds along the creek. Limited dispersed camping is available 5 miles south of the watershed at Browns Creek.

Basic Directions
Huerfano County/ Forest Service Rd.580. This road is not maintained past the Singing River Ranch during the winter. The road crosses through approximately five miles of private lands within the Singing River & McAlpine Ranches before reaching the National Forest boundary. DO NOT PARK ANYWHERE ALONG THIS PRIVATE LAND. The road is very rough, requiring a high-clearance vehicle and four-wheel drive. The road is usually impassable due to snow until early to mid June.
